IS BIGFOOT REAL?

Does anyone remember the golden age of pseudoscience? Remember back in the early 70's in the United States, when a number of pseudoscience "documentaries" were produced discussing everything from Bigfoot, to the Loch Ness monster, to ESP to UFO's?

These were great "documentaries"! I enjoyed them then, and I enjoy them now. However, there never was enough legitimate science contained to have made a C+ on any natural history, evolution, or biology class in any real university in the country.

Still, they are great old movies to watch, and I think they have added to my "intellectual" development as a kid, as well as to everyone else's"intellectual development" that watched them as a kid in the 70's.

MSN.com is currently running an article about some scientists in Michigan that are out to prove the existence of Bigfoot. I haven't smoked anything this morning, so I can honestly say that it is unlikely Bigfoot will be discovered in Michigan.

However, my sarcasm and cynicism being stated, I would now like to propose my own theory of what Bigfoot could or might be should such a creature actually exist.

My theory is simple and to the point. Bigfoot, should he exist is simply a HUMAN BEING/HOMO SAPIEN that has one or more genetic defects/alterations/deviations that make his/her appearance from a distance or through thick Washington State brush resemble an ape like creature.

I was working as a nurse one evening about 6 years ago, when a visitor came to the hospital to see a patient. This lady happened to suffer from Gigantism. This means obviously that she was larger than a usual woman, but more specifically, she had very large limbs, hands, and an over elongated jaw. When she spoke, her voice and prose gave every indication that she was at least of average and probably above average intelligence and education. She was in every measure a perfect lady in her words and manners.

Her physical appearance was startling, and I hope that my actual facial and voice reactions did not reveal to her inner feelings of surprise.

I am not trying to be funny, or crass, but this lady was of African American descent, and if she had been walking naked in the dusk in the woods of Washington State, there is no doubt she could have been mistaken for a "bigfoot".

Has anyone recently watched daytime TV and seen the "werewolf" children from Mexico? There is a genetic disorder which produced hair all over the body. The victim of this genetic disorder will have hair on his body that resembles what Hollywood has been presenting to us as a "werewolf ".

If a human being were to have both genetic disorders, gigantism, and the werewolf gene, and they were to be living in the wilderness of the great Northwest, you could have yourself a scientific explanation to what a "Bigfoot" is.

If there were a tribe/colony of these people who had survived time for 10-20 thousand years, they might have learned the benefits of staying clear of the standard/mainstream humans/Indians/Us.

If they lived that long outdoors, they would be able to stand the effects of the elements, and would likely have good vision, and good hearing, as well as a language that was as developed and clever as any stone age tribe from mainstream history.

I am not trying to imply that Bigfoot exists, or doesn't. I am merely trying to propose a possible explanation for the mystery.
